There are times when a gigantic, looming task weighs me down until I tackle it head-on. But those are rarities. Usually, like you, I'm motivated by completing a small task (or a few). It builds momentum.

I love the photos you included in this newsletter, Cara! I can almost smell the lilacs, and those kittens are adorable!

Hydrangeas, for sure.

I LOVE hydrangeas, but they don't love me, or at least not my garden. I've finally found one that has managed to survive through two winters, but I'm not holding much hope of it getting beautiful blooms.

Oh I know…Hydrangeas are so high maintenance. I bought several potted ones to decorate the yard for my daughter’s wedding and I’ve been going around babying them since March. I’m praying we can transplant them into the yard and they will survive. Unlikely. lol.

Cara, thank you so much for generously sharing my blog post in your newsletter!

My favorite flower would be lavender.

You are so welcome, Luba! I always enjoy your posts with tips you've gleaned from classic books!

I love lavender, too, but it can only grow as an annual here, so I stopped planting it. Does it grow as a perennial in your area?

Cara, thank you for your kind words about my blog posts about classic books.

As for lavender, I planted it in a container when we lived in a warmer climate and do not remember what happened to it. As for planting it where we are now, I am not sure how it would do. 🤔

This is a toughie because I enjoy so many flowers. But I will choose my blue delphinium (I have 2 shades of blue growing). Mine often bloom twice in a summer and I am thankful for that!

Oh, yes! I have some blue delphiniums as well. They are stunning. I think mine only bloom once, but they last for quite a while (unless we get a bad windstorm 😢). Do you stake yours?

Oh, what a wonderful wrap up, Cara!

To your flower question--always peonies, forever. They are too short-lived and I looooove them.

I think that would probably be my choice as well. My peonies are not quite open yet, but they should be in about a week or so. I have a deep red and a white bush. What colours do you grow?

Oh yes we share the same flower love. My peonies are a deep magenta and a couple of them are pink.
